Forgotten Promises Resurrected, Isaiah 55:6

Isaiah 55:6

“Seek the LORD while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near”.

Overview:

Isaiah 55:6 encourages people to seek the Lord while He is accessible and to call on Him when He is near, emphasizing the importance of turning to God before it's too late. This verse highlights the urgency of repentance and the opportunity for a renewed relationship with God.

There is an Urgency

I just don’t know how to state it more plainly than that there is an urgency to know Jesus as your savior and to have the faith and courage to fulfill your divine purpose.

What Do You See

Look around you and see for yourself how disjointed our world has become.  Propaganda (lying) has been legalized in our country; family values are scorned at; education is indoctrination for evil in many situations; transgenderism is a main stream word; Christianity is under attack like never before; lies, deception and corruption are today’s mode of operation, he’s want to be called she’s and vice versa;  the idea that people are just animals is prolific; the belief that you can have your truth and I can have my truth abounds; and I could go on but I think you get the idea.  As a country and, dare I say the world, has lost its moral compass.  In other words, turned their back on God.

Why

I have to pause here for a moment, because it would be real easy to throw the Bible at this situation because there are a plethora of content that warns against this behavior.  However, some of you might ask yourselves what gives me the right to point out the promises, ask condemning questions, remind you that there is hope and a better way than the way the “world” offers.  Well, there are a number of reasons:

  1. I want you, the reader, to at least know what I know about the Trinity (God the Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit)

  2. I’ve been bought and paid for, I’m not my own but belong to Him who bought me—Jesus

  3. I was promised by God that a lot of people would come to Him because of my testimony and the things I go through

Your Testimony is Powerful

There are plenty more reasons, but sharing my testimony is probably the strongest reason.  So I pause to share how glorious our creator is and how we must be on the lookout to not be deceived.  How we must know and believe that we must “be sober and be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, is as a roaring lion, walking about, seeking whom he may devour” as stated in 1 Peter 5:8.  The battle is real but our master is omnipotent and we belong to Him if we have chosen wisely.  I want to share a bit of my testimony here because as bad as the world seems, there is hope and there is no reason to fear when Jesus knows who you are.  After the 2020 Presidential Election, you may recall, that there was a lot of confusion, a lot of unkept promises, and a lot of deception.   I was angry, discouraged and confused that one night I went to bed with this statement, “God, I just wanted to to know the truth”!  God reminded me of John 14:6 where Jesus stated, “I am the way, the truth, and the life…” I was not satisfied with that answer because I wanted the “worldly” truth and argued with God because I knew that He knew what I was asking for.   The second night came and because I wasn’t satisfied with God’s answer, I went to bed with the same request, “God, I just wanted to know the truth”.   Again, God answered me with this, “My grace is sufficient for you”.  Like the day before, I didn’t like that answer.  Just like the day before I KNEW that verse and have read it many times.  And, I let God know I wasn’t satisfied or happy with His answer.  The third night came and again I proclaimed, “God, I just want to know the truth”.   Just so you know, God also can have an attitude and He let me have a little of His attitude when He answered me for the 3rd time when He said, “You do realize you live in a fallen world run by the father of lies, don’t you”?  Now that really doesn’t seem harsh as I wright about it today, but when God responded to me the way He did, it was the wakeup call that I needed for me to see the truth.   He had answered my question the first night but I was too proud or arrogant to really listen to Him and apply it the circumstances.  I connected the dots after God’s third answer, It became so obvious to me and I was embarrassed.  He said, I am the way, the truth and the life, my grace is sufficient for you and you live in a fallen world run by the father of lies.  At that point I humbled my self, asked for forgiveness for my attitude and asked what else don’t I know that I should be aware of.  I thought the conversation was over, but I was wrong again.  Because the fourth night, God gave me one more thing.  He said, “All you have to do is have Faith”.  At first blush, I thought, no problem, I can do that.  But then I started to realize that real faith is more than knowing what the Bible says but also believing wholeheartedly what it says and taking actions in your life that prove you believe what the Bible tells you.  Faith is actually an action.  In James 1:22-24 we are told, “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.  For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately”. Additionally, James 2:18, “someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works”.  In other words, “This phrase emphasizes that true faith is demonstrated through actions and good deeds, rather than just words or beliefs. It suggests that faith without corresponding actions is ineffective or "dead." These are only a small part of what faith really is and hoe important it is in serving Jesus.

Nothing New Under the Sun

So, back to the world and worldly events taking place today.  We are warned in Ecclesiastes 1:9,  “That which has been is what will be, That which is done is what will be done, And there is nothing new under the sun”.  It has all take place before.  The way I see it is that Satan’s quiver is not very big, he just keeps using the same few weapons on humanity generation after generation.  Satan’s weapons are only affective on the people who haven’t given their lives to Jesus.  2 Corinthians 4:3-4 explains is perfectly, “But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing,  whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them".

Urgent is a Gross Understatement

This brings back to urgency.  No matter how you slice it, time is short.  If we take the events taking place today we could make a strong argument we are in the end days.  That means the day of Jesus’ return is immanent.  Or, refer to James 4:14 where we are told, “whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.” Also look at Revelations 12:12 we are warned, “Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.”  Think about this for what this really means.  The only conclusion that I can defend is that time is short and time is of the essence, otherwise, it is urgent.  It is urgent because eternity is on the line for many people that are blind and don’t have a relationship with Jesus and they have not submitted their will to His will.  It’s urgent so those people have every opportunity to know and accept the truth.

Jesus Loves You

I want to close this article by letting you know Jesus loves you.  That He wants to come home to Him. Those two phrases come straight from the Bible.  The following part comes from my interaction with Jesus while I was praying for the salvation of an elderly lady.  Jesus showed me that she was bound in chains from the base of her head to her feet because she had denied Him for her entire life and was in bondage.  At that point Jesus reached out and touched me on the shoulder as He told me, “This how I feel when my children deny me because they believe the lies and deception of the world”.  The instant He touched my should I felt His overwhelming heartache and grief and tears immediately filled my eyes because I was also filled with heartache and grief and was crying uncontrollably. So, I know without a doubt Jesus loves you and He wants you to come home.

I truly hope I’ve struck a nerve within you whether you are a believer or an unbeliever how urgent it is to fulfill your God given purpose.

May You Always Walk in the Truth!
